So-called "heat-not-burn” devices are designed to heat disposable tobacco sticks and give users the taste of tobacco without the smoke or ash.

For the study, researchers analyzed data submitted by Philip Morris International to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration when the company was trying to win regulatory approval to market its I-Quit-Ordinary Smoking (IQOS) product as a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes.

The FDA has yet to weigh in on whether Philip Morris can sell its IQOS device as a lower-risk cigarette alternative. But an expert scientific panel convened by the FDA recommended against such a move earlier this year, and the new study offers fresh evidence of health risks associated with IQOS.

When smokers switched from traditional cigarettes to "heat-not-burn” devices, researchers didn’t find any evidence of improvements in lung function or reductions in inflammation that can signal tobacco-related blood vessel damage.

"Even if a patient could switch completely from regular cigarettes to heat-not-burn products, Philip Morris International’s own data shows that there will continue to be significant health risks associated with these products,” said lead study author Dr. Farzad Moazed of the University of California, San Francisco.

"Although quitting smoking is challenging, there are many other options for smoking cessation that are more effective and safer than the use of these products,” Moazed said by email.

There is evidence that IQOS may reduce exposure to certain harmful chemicals, Moazed said, a point Philip Morris emphasized in a statement released after the FDA advisory panel decision. The totality of evidence available on IQOS supports that it is likely to present less risk of harm compared to continued smoking,” Philip Morris said in an emailed statement to Reuters Health. "Heated tobacco products, also known as heat-not-burn products, generate a nicotine aerosol by heating sticks made up of tobacco and other chemicals without lighting them on fire,” Moazed said. While there’s limited data on the safety of IQOS relative to traditional cigarettes, and no long-term studies, the available evidence suggests that the devices are just as harmful to the lungs and immune system as traditional cigarettes, Moazed’s team concludes in Tobacco Control.

Also known as KOC, the term refers to everyday consumers whose primary value lies in their reliability and trustworthiness (definition by online media Medium). KOCs are consumers who decide for themselves which products they want to try and evaluate, the size of their community is not important but their opinion is listened to because it is considered credible.

Pablo insists on opinions and the importance of word of mouth. According to him, this is particularly linked to sophisticated content with high added value that will generate interest among users. He also advises to motivate and reward Internet users when they share their positive experience of the brand.

Offer qualitative content
"The content has to be able to support the buying attention," says Pablo. He reminds us that the online experience has become very immersive and is no longer just informative. Moreover, the Tmall team emphasizes in the introduction that the goal of the platform is "to entertain, engage with consumers and increase loyalty." These goals are accomplished by activating brands in a variety of ways, including offering content that resonates with the landscape and cultural context. In particular, Pablo says that working with local celebrities has a much greater impact than working with international celebrities. He emphasizes two points in particular: activation campaigns linked to events of the year such as Single's Day or Women's Day, and the fact that the content of the platform should not be limited to the visual produced.
To successfully create qualitative content on your e-commerce platform, one of the key axes is that of the calendar. In China, this is not limited to the global agenda of the year or that of the brand, it includes a large number of local key dates which have an "ultra significant impact on purchase intentions", Pablo notes. Each event requires an intelligent choice of the right medium outside of Tmall, or its e-commerce platform.

For his part, Bruno Alazard, from Kenzo, confides: "the commercial calendar is indeed very dense with extraordinary leverage effects. The key word is anticipation”. He adds: "The Single Day we had anticipated as sales but in the end, we were extremely surprised by the acceleration in sales". He specifies that for the Single Day in mid-November, he and his teams should start talking about it next month, in April.

Same experience with Ami Paris. "We were surprised at the potential,” says Nicolas Santi-Weil. He also takes into account a point that seems important to him and of which he is convinced: the fact that "these shopping festivals, this very dense calendar, can also bring growth which is not only driven by discount". According to him, if the brand has a strong traction, it is also possible to enjoy these events through exclusivity, collaboration and communication.

Yesterday we said, "Since mid April the SPY has made higher highs and the VIX has made higher lows, which is a short term divergence. The bottom window shows this divergence more clearly which is the SPY/VIX ratio. When this ratio is moving higher than everything is in sink and a bullish sign for the market. The SPY/VIX ratio peaked in mid April and has modestly moved lower and a bearish short term sign.” As of today this ratio is still moving down and remains short term bearish. We noticed at previous important lows the SPY will make lower lows and the VIX will make lower highs which are a positive divergence (see early and late March VIX divergence on chart This same setup may develop on the next low in the SPY (SPX). There is support on the SPY near the 410 level which is the mid April low.
The chart below looks into the strength for GDX. The second window up from the bottom is the Up Down volume for GDX with a 50 day average. We shaded light pink when its below "0” and when price are usually declining. This indicator has been below "0” since last August. A bullish sign is present though as the Up Down Volume indicator has been rising since the March low. To get back to totally bullish this indicator needs to close and hold above "0”. Next window up is the Advance/Decline with a 50 day average and works the same was as the Up Down Volume indicator. It too has been rising since the March low and near the "0” level now. Seasonality wise May is not a good month for Gold and Gold stocks. What could be forming here is a Head and Shoulders bottom pattern where the Head is the March low. The next 30 days or so the Right Shoulder may form and when the Neckline of this potential Head and Shoulders bottom is exceeded is when the Up Down Volume and Advance/Decline indictors break and hold above "0”. Bigger picture is bullish, but there is a chance of a sideways pattern this month. Long GDX (10/9/20 at 40.7 .

Old scams, new tools
　　According to the report, while scammers still rely on tried-and-true methods—such as calls from someones "son” who ostensibly "got into an accident and urgently needs money”—cryptocurrencies allowed them to put a new spin on old frauds.

　　For example, Bitcoin ATMs, which allow customers to instantly buy BTC with cash, have already become widespread in the U.S. Thanks to this, many malicious actors are now trying to convince people to withdraw funds from their bank, go to a Bitcoin ATM, and send a certain amount of coins via a QR code provided by the scammer.

　　"I got a call that sounded exactly like my son,” said Shaker Heights, who almost fell victim to such a scam, adding, "The shopkeeper comes up and says ‘can I help you？’ I said we have to send money to an attorney with this machine and he‘s like you’re getting scammed.”

　　The scammer—who stayed on the phone the whole time—asked Heights to deposit $9,000 via a Bitcoin ATM. If the shopkeeper hadnt stopped him, that money would almost certainly be lost forever.

　　"Unfortunately, once that money is gone, it‘s almost impossible to get it back, so the best we can do is prevention and that’s why were trying to get the word out,” said FBI special agent Vicki Anderson.

Warning signs on Bitcoin ATMs
　　To tackle this problem, law enforcement agents and the FBI now plan to put special warning signs on Bitcoin ATMs across the county, motivating people to consider whether they are actually being scammed.

　　"The point of the signs is to just give people a chance to pause, like wait a minute. The government isn‘t going to ask you for Bitcoin, they just won’t, the jail won‘t ask you to pay in Bitcoin and your utility company doesn’t accept Bitcoin payments,” Harris added.

　　Meanwhile, more often than not scammers prefer to go after users‘ crypto holdings directly. As CryptoSlate reported recently, Apple’s App Store customers have lost over $1.6 million worth of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to hackers.

After consecutive wedge tops, we should get a 2nd leg sideways to down, and it should start within a few days. While the team was in desperate need of a new design, something about these uniforms just felt patchwork. Maybe it was the different-colored shoulders, the multiple stitch bordering the numbers or the really bad gradient helmet. Actually, it was probably a combination of all three.

The best thing to come out of these updated uniforms was the new logo, which was sorely needed and added a lot of detail. In all, these were probably the worst of the makeovers that Nike has done, which is why the Jags changed it up at the next available moment.If these uniforms look oddly familiar, it's because they are oddly familiar; they're adjacent to the uniforms they had prior to Nike's redesign in 2014, with a few minor changes. The numbering doesn't feature any kind of new flavor and the actual plain-ness of the uniforms themselves is such a turnoff considering, at minimum, Nike tried something new and different with the design of the Bucs prior uniforms.

In all, these uniforms are just painfully bland. They're not bad. They're just bland. They're unappealing and not at all inspiring. The font and number doesn't do anything new or original. The design is something so basic that it's a wonder why they ever changed in the first place.

The Hendrix jersey was conceived as a way for Sounders FC to honor the rock icon and his connection to Seattle, as well as to celebrate the principles of peace, love and giving that his music promoted.

Proceeds from the first 30 days of sales of the Hendrix jersey will be donated to five local non-profit organizations: The Jimi Hendrix Park Foundation, the Museum of Pop Culture, the Northwest African American Museum, RAVE Foundation and the Tacoma Public Schools Indian Education Program.
