FR4 PCB Manufacturing
FR4 is not a certain material but means a
materials grade designated by NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers
Association), among which "FR" stands for flame retardant. FR4 PCBs
contain many kinds of materials, most are composed of tera-function
(chemical functional group) epoxy resin, woven fiberglass cloth with
filler, in the PCB industry generally refer to FR4 epoxy glass cloth
laminates. Because of the good electrical insulation properties, high
flatness, and excellent mechanical strength, FR4 PCBs are currently the
most common used circuit boards in various fields. To get more news
about fr4 board, you can visit pcbmake official website.
Tg is the glass transition temperature, in other word, the melting
point. When the temperature rises to a certain threshold, the FR4 PCB
will change from "glass state" to "rubber state". The temperature at
this time is called Tg of that board. That is, Tg is the highest
temperature at which the FR4 PCB remains rigid, boards' mechanical and
electrical properties will drop sharply when it beyond Tg temperature,
which affects the service life of the product, so this value must be
considered when select FR4 PCBs.
